Pastor Mike Tangeman
Senior Associate Pastor
Mike Tangeman serves as Senior Associate Pastor at Heritage. He is our Missions Pastor and manages all the grounds and facilities of Heritage Baptist Church and Heritage Christian School.
As a boy, Mike was a regular attender of UCC and confirmed his church membership there at age 12, trusting that was the way to Heaven as they had taught him. Later, through a series of circumstances, his family began attending another church that was started by a Tennessee Temple University graduate. God’s Word began to work on his heart that it was not church membership that enabled you to go to Heaven, but faith and trust in the finished work of Christ. He was saved on October 31, 1971, at the age of 17.
God has blessed Pastor Tangeman and his wife, Christy, with three children, their spouses, and 8 grandchildren.
He attended Tennessee Temple University and Fairhaven Baptist College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1988. Pastor Tangeman has been in ministry since 1977. In his early years he worked as a youth pastor in Harrison, Tennessee and in Minster, Ohio. He served as an Assistant Pastor and Interim Pastor in Ohio as well. He joined the staff of Heritage in 1988.
When Pastor Tangeman is not busy here on campus, he enjoys gardening, hunting, and helping others. His favorite books to read are missionary biographies and the stories of Louis L’Amour.
God has given him a desire to serve the cause of Missions here and around the world and to help others.
