Peer pressure is strong. Singles have challenges and struggles that can only be answered from God’s Word. Singles need direction and wisdom. You need friends that help and strengthen you along the way. You need influences that encourage purity rather than robbing it. All of this and more can be found in the singles’ ministries at Heritage Baptist Church. With weekly classes and activities, the single adults at Heritage Baptist are growing together as believers in Christ.
Everybody needs some help and encouragement. Heritage Baptist Singles' Bible class gives you a place to belong and fit-in. The class provides Bible teaching that is specific to the challenges and needs that you face as single adults. They also provide mentoring and friendship; a place to have your questions answered and your needs met.
The Life and Ministry of the Apostle Paul
This is an in depth study of the apostle Paul as revealed to us primarily in the book of Acts. We’ll study his background, missionary journeys and the twilight of his life.
The New Beginning's class is designed to help couples see how God’s Word can be used to guide them into a solid and wonderful relationship with their spouse. God’s Word is studied with diligence and purpose, looking to see how it can be applied in practical living.
The Family Foundations Sunday School class is geared toward younger couples with small children who are interested in developing a relationship with God and fellowshipping with other couples and their families. The studies focus on God’s teachings in the Bible and applying the lessons in our daily lives If you are interested, we would love to get to know you!
Homebuilders was created to ground couples in the Scriptures and to encourage them to grow in their personal relationship with God. The second purpose for the Homebuilders class is to help people grow in their role of husband/wife and parents. The teaching schedule includes both instruction in basic Biblical doctrines and principles as well as other topical material applicable to marriage and family. Homebuilders has a warm and friendly atmosphere where you'll not only feel at home and develop lasting friendships, but where you'll also be able to contribute to your learning and the learning of others around you with the class' interactive teaching style. Whether you have a family you are trying to raise or you want to be an encouragement to others as they raise their family, this class provides the biblical information necessary to become successful in God’s eyes:
Life is filled with all sorts of events in which our children may say, “what is the big deal?” Often parents will say “that is such a little thing, what is the big deal?” All of those little things are big deals when it comes to being obedient to what God wants for our lives. In this series we are investigating the life of Joseph and the many aspects of his life where he became obedient rather than making the typical statement – what’s the big deal? Joseph became successful going through difficult circumstances and handling those circumstances in a manner pleasing to God, and eventually leading a land through a famine and much more! You will be challenged each class with an aspect for your life and the life of your children to help them become all they can be for His service!
This class focuses on meeting the growing need for people to understand the Bible from a Biblical worldview. The class is a mixture of ages, personalities and life situations with both couples and singles and several whose spouses do not attend. The membership is eager to meet new people and serve the Lord. Many class members are active in ministries within the church. The objective of the class is to grow in love for the Lord and understand him better. It's also just a really great place to get together with really genuine people.
Acts 17:11 “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”
Current Series: “Our God and His Children" teaching through Psalm 1 – 13
At Heritage Baptist Church, we strive to give equal attention to all age groups. Our senior citizens group is called Prime Timers. We encourage this group that God has great plans for their lives and so we try to provide many opportunities for spiritual growth and activities. The key to being young at heart is being active in the Lord. To go along with the Sunday School class for them, we also encourage them to take part in many of the church ministries. They meet in the Fellowship Hall every Sunday at 10:00am for coffee, refreshments, and a Bible lesson.
Women with Compassion….women’s groups designed specifically
For women-For fellowship-For service-For you
WWC groups are for all women of Heritage Baptist Church…whether you are married or single…..a new mom or an empty-nester…..young or young at heart….there is a place for you to be involved and connected with other women here at Heritage.
WWC groups are a great way to meet other ladies and have a chance to better get to know the ladies you worship with on Sundays.
WWC groups also provide many opportunities for you to be involved in the ministry here at Heritage. Ladies groups are involved in planning banquets, serving at church fellowships, providing meals outside of church, praying for others and much more.
There are several different WWC groups and all are unique. There are groups which are very busy. There are groups for those looking for less commitment. There are also some groups which are age-specific. Whatever your personality or your comfort level, there is a group just right for you!!
For more information about the specific groups or to join a group, please feel free to see Mrs. Nancy Edwards.
Every Saturday morning at 7:30am the men and boys of Heritage gather in the chapel to share burdens and requests and pray for our country, church, and families. A brief devotional is given by one of the men followed by donuts and coffee in the Fellowship Hall. This is an opportunity for men to grow in the Lord, and in friendships.
Looking at the life of Jesus, we see Him helping those around Him in many ways, removing obstacles in order to draw lives closer to Him. Similarly, the Welcome Team provides an opportunity for us to help and serve those around us. The Welcome Team is often the first impression of Heritage. Whether we’re helping park cars, holding a door, or giving a warm smile, every act of kindness affects the first impression. By being a part of the Welcome Team, you are helping Heritage Baptist to reach, grow, and serve. Not only are you the voice of a friendly “good morning” to many people before the service, but you are also an information source.
The Heritage Institute of Ministry was started in 2001, as a tool to train men and women who are currently in a professional career, but seeking to learn more about the Word of God. Our ultimate goal is to see men complete the four year degree and then go out to start churches in our country.
Courses range from in-depth studies of the books of the Bible, Bible doctrines, and Biblical studies to Counseling methods, Preaching preparation, and Youth work. Our purpose is to give an in-depth look at all that goes in to being a part of the ministry.
Two semesters, with five courses each are offered every year. The courses are taught by Pastor Edwards, and the staff of Heritage Baptist Church. We use both published texts and from knowledge gained by experience in the Ministry.
If you would like to enroll in the Institute, please give us a call at 703.680.6629 to ask about what courses will be offered for the next semester and when registration will begin.

The Bible Builders is directly involved in getting foreign-language Scriptures booklets to missionaries and national pastors around the world. The Scriptures, which consist of the Gospel of John and/or the book of Romans, are received from an outside printing center and are then assembled, covered and finished here at Heritage and then organized for shipment. Working one day a week, the Bible Builders have assembled over 250,000 Scripture booklets in six different languages over the last five years.
The completed Scripture booklets are shipped around the world. When distributed, it is estimated that each booklet will be read by eight people. By these estimations, Heritage Bible Builders have had a part in getting the Gospel to over two million souls!
